The Dream Into Action Program consists of the Canvas Event, The Illustration Event, and Character and Leadership Workshops.
The first objective of this program is to have the children articulate and visualize their dreams and help them create action steps to move toward these dreams. The second objective is to teach each child the value of character which becomes the foundation in which they can work toward their dreams despite difficult situations.
CANVAS EVENT
Where kids articulate their dreams.
The objective of this event is to introduce our organization to the community by means of a fun event and ask children in these vulnerable areas about their dreams for the future. With the Dream into Action Canvas, we help children begin to articulate ideas and actions that will lead them toward these dreams.
ILLUSTRATION EVENT
Where kids visualize their dreams.
In this event, children are asked to draw and color a visual representation of their dreams. This encourages them to imagine themselves succeeding and visualize what that would look like.
CHARACTER & LEADERSHIP WORKSHOPS
Where kids learn universal
principles that become the
foundation for their dreams.
Participants of the first two events are enrolled into character and leadership workshops where we apply the curriculum obtained through a partnership with Teach One to Lead One® (T1L1) to teach Universal Principles including; respect, teamwork, courage, enthusiasm, compassion and more. These universal principles along with the meaningful relationships our mentors develop with the kids become their building blocks for success.
2022 GOALS
Our goal is to have around 350 children active in the Dream into Action Program with almost 209 of those enrolled in character and leadership workshops.
To do this, we need volunteers of strong character to make a one-year commitment to mentor these kids in the areas of Barranquilla, Cartagena and El Banco in Colombia. We also need generous donors who will help fund purchases for the program which include curriculum materials for the kids, technology solutions to help make lessons engaging and snacks for the children which provide them energy to learn.
